Refund, Withdrawal & Cancellation Policies

Aspen University policies conform to the requirements of
the Colorado Commission on Higher Education and the Distance
Education and Training Council (DETC). All advance payments
are refundable, within the limits cited below. Refunds
are payable by check only and will not be charged back to
a credit card.

Change in Start Date of a Course
Under some circumstances a student may find it necessary
to adjust the start date of their course. We allow students
to request a change in their start date prior
to that date without incurring a fee.
A change in start date requested on the start date or up
to midnight on the 7th day after the start date will result
in a $50 change fee. No change is allowed after the 7th
day following the start date of a course.
A student may request a change of start date by email, fax
or phone.
Course Enrollment Cancellation
Enrollments may be canceled by a student within five
calendar days of midnight on the day the enrollment
agreement was signed or submitted electronically. Cancellation
under these circumstances will result in a full refund of
the course tuition paid.
A student may request cancellation by email, fax or mail.
Students must identify the effective cancellation date,
which must be on or after the date of notification, and
the reason for cancellation. Upon cancellation, all money
due the student will be refunded within 30 days subject
to the following conditions.
Course Enrollment Withdrawal
A student withdrawing from a course after
midnight of the fifth day after the enrollment
agreement was signed or submitted electronically up to the
course's start date will result in a full refund of
the course tuition paid less the non-refundable administration
fee ($180 for Graduate courses or $150 for Undergraduate
courses).
Refunds due to the student for course cancellation on
or after the course start date are calculated according
to the Refund Table.
Multiple Course Pre-payment Refund Policy
(For refunds due to students who have paid up front
for four (4) courses)
Withdrawal from a course will result in assessment of the
administration fee ($180 for Graduate courses or $150 for
Undergraduate courses). No refunds will be awarded for
course withdrawal during the first four (4) courses
unless the student withdraws from the degree program entirely.
After successful completion of the first four
(4) courses Aspen University calculates refunds based
on the course-by-course tuition amount paid and processes
refunds according to the Refund Table.
A student withdrawing from the degree program will be granted
a refund based on the tuition paid and according to the
Refund Table.
Example:
If a student signs a multiple course enrollment agreement
in a Master's program, paying for 4 courses, but withdraws
from the program after completing 2 courses, the student
is entitled to a full refund (less a one-time administration
fee of $180) on the remaining 2 uncompleted courses based
on the full single-course tuition amount ($900 per course).
| 4 course enrollment = $3600 |
($900 x 4) = $3600
|
| Completed courses (2) =
$1800 |
($900 x2) = $1800
|
| Refund due when withdrawing
after completing 2 courses = $1620 |
$1800 + $180 = $1980)
$3600 - $1980= $1620
|
2 courses completed plus administration fee.
Refund due.
|
Courses that are partially completed are refunded subject
to course-based enrollment Refund Table.
Program-Based Tuition Refund Policy
(For refunds due to students who have paid up front
for the tuition of their entire degree program)
Aspen University calculates refunds based on the full tuition
cost (published cost per credit) and processes refunds according
to the Refund Table.
Refund of Other Fees
- The graduation fee is refundable up until the diploma
is ordered; thereafter, the fee is nonrefundable.
- Application fees, Online Library fees, transcript fees,
credit evaluation fees, late registration fees, and fees
paid for books and materials are nonrefundable.
