Refund Policy

Aspen University policies conform to the requirements of the Colorado Commission on Higher Education (CCHE) and the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC). All advance payments are refundable, within the limits cited below. Refunds are payable by check only and will not be charged back to a credit card.

PROGRAM WITHDRAWAL REFUND

For refunds due to students who have paid upfront for the entire tuition of their degree program, Aspen University calculates refunds based on the full tuition cost (published cost per credit) and processes refunds according to the Refund Table. All students will assessed a $180 administration fee for withdrawing from any program.

ENROLLMENT,CANCELLATION AND COURSE WITHDRAWAL FEES

Enrollments may be canceled by midnight of the fifth calendar day from the day the enrollment agreement was signed or submitted electronically. Cancellation under these circumstances will result in a full refund of the course tuition paid. A student may request cancellation by email, fax, or mail. Students must identify the effective cancellation date, which must be on or after the date of notification, and the reason for cancellation. Upon cancellation, all money due to the student will be refunded within 30 days subject to the following conditions.

A student cancelling an enrollment on or after midnight of the fifth calendar day after the enrollment agreement was signed or submitted electronically, up to the course's start date will result in a full refund of the course tuition paid less the non-refundable administrative fee ($180 for all programs).

When a student withdraws from a course on or after the course start date, Aspen University provides a refund of course-by-course tuition payments, according to the following table, less the $180 administrative fee:

After the fourth week of the course- 20%

REFUND TABLE (16 WEEK COURSES)

NOTE: For students receiving military benefits, the cost of textbooks will be deducted from students' refunds upon withdrawal from a course.

REFUND OF OTHER FEES

Application fees, Annual Library/ Technology Fees, transcript fees, credit evaluation fees, late registration fees, graduation fees and fees paid for books and materials are nonrefundable.

MULTIPLE COURSE PREPAYMENT REFUND POLICIES

Refunds for pre-payments are provided based upon the number of courses completed less a one-time administration fee of $180 per the Refund Table and are only given upon student's withdrawal from program. After successful completion of the pre-payment courses (first 3 courses for Graduate programs and first 4 courses for Undergraduate programs) Aspen University calculates refunds based on the course-by-course tuition amount paid and processes refunds according to the Refund Table. A student withdrawing from the degree program will be granted a refund based on the tuition paid and according to the Refund Table.

Example:

If a student signs a multiple course enrollment agreement in the Masters program, paying for 3 courses, but withdraws from the program after completing 2 courses, the student is entitled to a full refund, less a one-time administration fee of $180, on the remaining 1 uncompleted courses based on the full single-course tuition amount of $900 per course.

Three Course Enrollment: $900 x 3 courses = $2,700

Completed Courses: $900 x 2 courses = $1,800

Cost of Completion of 2 Courses and Administration Fee to Withdraw: $1,800 + $180 administration fee = $1,980

Refund Due: $2,700 - $1,980 = $720

CHANGE IN COURSE START DATE FEE

Under some circumstances, a student may find it necessary to adjust the start date of their course. We allow students to request a change in their start date prior to that date without incurring a fee.

A change in start date requested on the start date, or up to midnight of the 7th day after the start date will result in a $50 change fee. No change is allowed after the 7th day following the start date of a course. A student may request a change of start date by email or fax.
